The Art of Noticing: The Place Where You Live

 Today, I did not notice
the way my red galoshes
shone in the Spring mizzle.

Or the hot pink polish
newly applied
and how it woke up the pale palette
of my morning shower.

Unseen were my steps
that trod the familiar path
from fridge to sink to countertop
The path that sustains my family.

These are the inches
that make up our journey.

Let us not pass them by unseen.

Where is the place that you live?
See it.
Honor it.
Stand.

What about you? Where is it that you are standing today? Not where you came from. Not where you one day hope to be. But where you are right now.

The Art of Noticing is about practicing presence in accessible, everyday ways. It decreases resistance, increases gratitude, and opens your eyes to what Mary Oliver calls your “one wild, precious life.” Learn to notice in The Art of Noticing, a 30 day practice group beginning May 1st. Reveling in Saturday morning slow rising, puttering about kitchen, sitting down to do some finishing touches on my goddess e-book, cat on lap.

The Right Now: Ears waterlogged after a morning swim. Back in front of the keyboard, vaguely afraid of the emotional reaction I might have to my work today. Cozy in the coffee shop whilst Paul runs the girls to get new eyeglasses. Nervous and Grateful.
