*8Things: A Gratitude Practice

*8Things icon Every time I think I’m done with *8Things, it comes back around. I guess this candy-striped icon is my little sidekick these days. (Shhhh…don’t tell Pinkerton.)

In it’s next incarnation, *8Things is going to appear on Thursdays as a gratitude practice. (‘Cuz you only preach the sermon you need to know, and Tapping Into Gratitude is one of my greatest hits needs.)

Introducing….Addie the Grublet!

I’m grateful for…

1. The messy joy that is white puppy “helping” in the winter veg garden.
2. The headache I’m rockin’ right now because it means I’m finally gonna move out of the PMS to just the MS. (Fewer symptoms during the MS part.)
3. The financial ability to see the acupuncturist, the naturopath, and to buy insanely costly supplements.
4. Watching my kids walk to middle school(!) together.
5. Today there will be sun. (It makes me hum this.)
6. Growing enough tomatoes to be able to make sauce.
7. Starting my day with a soul nurturin’, brain-feedin’ TED talk by Brene Brown.
8. Learning to blog again, every day. (So juicy!)

1. I finished my uni assignment at 1am, so I have the whole long weekend stretching out before me.
2. The Hold On Tight Story project is becoming a reality
3. My baby has finally moved on from calling me ‘ME’ or ‘MINE’ to ‘Mumma’ – yay!
4. He slept all night through : )
5. I am going to a lovingly recreated 1920s style banquet on Saturday.
6. I can smell pancakes being cooked for our branch morning tea.
7. My new job is working out swimmingly (see 6.)
8. Did I mention the long weekend?

Today I am thankful for time to grieve and time to sleep. Both deeply necessary for my spirit.

I’m grateful for –
1. the reality check of stepping onto the scale and realizing I’ve gained ten pounds
2. having a clear idea of what i need to do to undo some of that damage
3. having enough food and drink to gain weight when so many people are starving
4. morning pages, restarting that life-affirming habit
5. early morning walks in the quiet mist
6. getting a phone call from a dear friend and sharing stories, laughter, and complaints
7. an upcoming long weekend at the beach
8. ecojot journals and fine point pens and pages filled with my meandering thoughts

K – I’ve never heard a baby call thier mumma “mine.” It’s adorable! And I can understand how thrilling it must be to hear mumma! :-)
